Before mulch goes down, we re-edge bed lines for a crisp, defined look and remove old mulch buildup, weeds, and debris so your beds start fresh.

Mulch Installation

Site Visit

We come out, measure your bed area, and discuss mulch type and color preferences. Most quotes can be given on the spot.

Prep & Edging

Day-of: we re-cut bed edges for a clean line, hand-pull weeds, and remove any debris that would dirty up the new mulch.

Installation

Mulch is installed at proper depth, hand-spread around plants, and finished with clean edges. Hard surfaces are blown clean before we leave.

When is the best time to install mulch?

Spring (April–June) is ideal — fresh mulch sets up your beds for the whole season. Fall installation is also great for winter protection. We mulch year-round when weather allows.

How thick should mulch be?

We install at a 2–3 inch depth — enough to suppress weeds and retain moisture, but not so much that it suffocates plant roots or invites pests. We avoid 'volcano mulching' around tree trunks.

What types of mulch do you offer?

Premium hardwood, dyed (brown, black, red), and natural cedar/cypress. We can also work with whatever mulch you already have on hand if you prefer.

How often should I re-mulch?

Most beds benefit from a refresh every 1–2 years. Heavily trafficked or sunny beds may need annual top-ups; shaded beds can often go 2–3 years between full installs.

Will mulch attract bugs?

Properly installed mulch (kept away from foundations and stem bases) does NOT attract problem pests. In fact, mulch can deter some pests by hiding bare soil.
